Shutter Locks & Bolts
It’s quite simple … if shutters don’t lock in the closed position, they don’t function.

Whether you need hurricane hardware for an oceanside property or just want a forever-maintenance-free exterior, stainless steel is the unsurpassed option. Ours is substantial, historically accurate hardware in domestically produced 304 grade stainless, carrying the same proven weight of material as our standard line.
Reference prices from our price sheet; prices change with steel costs, so we confirm current pricing, finish and lead time with you before anything is forged. See ordering information.
Stainless steel is the only real option close to salt water. We’ve tried galvanizing and other exotic finishes, but good American-made 304 grade stainless is the one solution that requires no maintenance and protects your home from unsightly rust and corrosion stains. Shutters are the simple way to button down as ocean storms approach — and they also secure a vacant home and block the sun from bleaching furniture.
While others sell a narrow selection of imported stainless hardware, we offer the most comprehensive line of stainless shutter hardware available. Since we make it all in our Pennsylvania shop, custom hardware is not a problem — and we’re always months faster than that ship from overseas.

More than any other environment, seaside locations demand locking shutters. We’ve seen heavy shutters beat themselves to pieces in a winter nor’easter in the Hamptons because a too-small lock failed, and a customer reported a traditional 610 lock rattling loose after 20 straight hours of gale-to-hurricane winds in Texas. So we designed the SS 620 barrel bolt: a heavy bolt with a 5/8″ section that can be securely locked and will not disengage when the wind blows for days on end.
Brandywine stainless hardware is on the shutters of the Fort Jefferson lighthouse in Dry Tortugas National Park, and was specified by architect Eric Watson for the Howell House in Panama City, Florida — winner of a 2016 Palladio Award — for ease of installation and maintenance-free performance. Near salt water, 304 stainless is the one finish we have found that needs no maintenance and will not leave rust or corrosion stains on your house. Galvanizing works well in many places but is not maintenance-free at the shore.

Yes. We make stainless hardware to order in our own shop, so any length, hole placement or offset can be had, including large bi-fold and custom shutter hardware.

The heart of every functional shutter installation.
Most shutter hardware sold today is imported copies of hardware first made here in the 1880s — and contemporary construction doesn’t match 19th-century materials or dimensions.
We’re happy to help you configure a hardware and shutter solution that will install easily, function properly, and can save you time and money.
